1. Simon’s physical appearance stands in the way of him fitting in, even with his family. Who in the movie gave Simon a sense of belonging? Explain using examples

Rebecca Wenteworth gave Simon a sense of belonging because she believed in him, stood up for Simon, and loved him no matter what he looked like. Rebecca always cheered Simon on when he would play baseball. She would be the only one in the stands who would encourage Simon. Also, She stood up for Simon when he got yelled at by the Reverend Russell for speaking his mind. Finally, just because Simon was not 'normal', Rebecca still loved Simon and cared for him. This is why I think Rebecca Wentworth gave simon a sense of belonging

2. Where does your sense of belonging come from? Has anyone ever helped you fit in at one time or another? Explain.

I believe that the sense of belonging come from connecting with someone or a group of people. When I first changed schools, I had no friends. But when people from my class started to talk to me and got to know me I felt like I belonged there. One friend in particular really made an effort to get to know me, we had a really strong connection and still do to this day.

3.Do you make those who may be different – physically, emotionally, or socially – in the eyes of society feel like they belong? Explain using examples.

I personally don't think that looks matter, it depends on the on their personality. I make an effort to know everyone no matter their appearance but i will continue to get to know you if I like you personality. It doesn't matter if your physical, emotional, or social difference, it depends on your personality. For example, when I first came to this school, I didn't know many people. I started to go outside of my comfort zone and start talking to more of my peers. I got to know them more based on their personality and not their looks. Most, if not all, of my of my friends have an amazing personality.

4.How is true friendship exhibited between Simon and Joe?

True friendship is exhibited between Simon and Joe because they forgave each other, protected each other, and they trusted each other with their secrets. Joe forgave Simon when he accidentally killed Joe's mother. Also, when they broke into the gym teachers office and they got caught, Joe tried to take all the blame to protect Simon but Simon didn't want him to go through it alone so it admitted it as well. Finally, when Joe was ready to find out who is father was, he trusted Simon with his secret. Simon didn't tell anyone about their plan to find out who the father was and he stayed loyal to Joe. This is why I think true friendship is exhibited between Simon and Joe.

5.What sacrifices must we make in order to be a true friend?

I think that we should be honest in order to be a true friend. You must be honest about your opinion toward them even though they might get mad at you at times. It will hurt them at first but they will soon understand the meaning behind your honesty and forgive you.

6.Simon wanted to be a hero and eventually he was. Have you ever been a hero, even in a small way to anyone? Explain.

I personally have been a hero to my friend because one day she was crossing the road but didn't look both ways. I saw a car coming as my friend started to cross the road. I quickly pulled her shirt back and the car barely touched her. If i had not pulled her back she could've gotten hit my the car.

7.Sometimes a hero can be someone you know, like a parent, teacher, coach or friend. Who has been a hero for you in your life? Explain.

My mom has been a hero in my life because she has always been there for me and she has taught me to fight for what I believe in. She has been through so much to get me to where I am today and i am grateful for that. This is why my mom is a hero in my life.
